Winter’s Here –
Time to Embrace the Cozy and the Connected!

Embracing Winter: A Time to Slow Down and Connect.

Winter is a season of contrasts, where the cold air outside meets the warmth of our homes, hearty meals, and close connections. While the shorter days and chilly weather can sometimes feel endless, they also present a unique chance to slow down, reconnect, and find comfort in the little things. It’s the perfect time to dig out your knitting needles and start that scarf you’ve been meaning to make — or perhaps just curl up with a good book (or a favourite TV series!). In this edition of In Touch, we’re sharing some practical tips to help you navigate the colder months, along with a few heartwarming patient stories from our incredible community. We hope they inspire and uplift you. It’s been a busy time for us, filled with patient meetups, Circus Quirkus shows, and youth events. We celebrated Immunology Awareness Month by hosting two separate seminars. The first was a Medical Seminar, where we explored the Latest Updates on PID Research and Treatment. The second was a Patient Seminar, focusing on Genetic Testing and PID, and we were lucky to have Dr. Neil Romberg from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) as our keynote speaker for these events. Looking ahead, we’ve got more Razzamatazz shows, workshops, and events lined up in the coming months. We can’t wait to see you there! June also marks Beware Yellow Month, our annual campaign to raise awareness of childhood liver disease. We’d love your help in spreading the word! Whether it’s hosting a yellow mufti day at school, putting up posters at work, or simply sharing information, every little effort counts. This year, we’ve sent out Beware Yellow poster packs to maternity units across New Zealand. If you know someone who’s expecting or have contact with a Plunket nurse or midwife, please feel free to request a pack to help spread this important message. We hope you find this edition of In Touch both engaging and informative. We encourage you to stay connected and join our member events—there’s something for everyone! We look forward to seeing you in person.
