In Touch Spring 2025

Fri Aug. 22nd 2025

After such a chilling winter, it is a joy to anticipate the longer
days and warmer temperatures of Spring.

A great deal has already occurred this year, with numerous patient events taking place nationwide. It is terrific to see member families attending and enjoying these gatherings. The PID medical and patient member seminars held in April were filled with informative talks and presentations, including one by Professor Neil Romberg, an international speaker. Our PID medical seminar and patient education days in April were a huge success.

Thanks to Rohan Ameratunga and Annaliesse Blincoe for organising the speakers and support staff, Amy and Danielle, for delivering very professional events. The talks were recorded and will be available soon on the IDFNZ website. Other social events, including our movie days and family outings, were opportunities for members to meet others facing similar challenges. Staff have also delivered a range of youth workshops, coffee mornings, craft events, and family movie nights in Auckland and Christchurch for Beware Yellow. Spring brings much to look forward to, as it is always the busiest season for IDFNZ members. We have our beloved Razzamatazz shows scheduled for September, followed by our final youth workshop of the year in Auckland. The IDFNZ AGM is being held by Zoom this year, to make it accessible to everyone. We encourage you all to register for this event. We plan to host our Christmas events in November to avoid the Christmas rush, featuring children’s parties in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, as well as tickets for Special Christmas parties in other regions. Santa and his helpers are going to be very busy! November also brings our Liver conference, a one-day event taking place in Auckland. If you haven’t already registered, we urge you to complete a registration form. It is provided free of charge and covers a range of subjects that benefit members of all ages affected by childhood liver disease. Travel and accommodation assistance is available for families outside of Auckland to attend. We encourage you all to register for this special education event, to be held at Butterfly Creek. Thank you to the clinicians, staff, and patient volunteers who are pulling together to make the conference possible. This is only possible with your incredible support!
