New Book: ‘In the Hospital Lane’

We were pleased to launch our latest book at the Auckland conference this year.

Having a sick child is a stressful experience for most parents. When their illness becomes serious enough to require hospital admission, we understand that anxiety can escalate as the whole family is suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar world, which we have named ‘The Hospital Lane’.

The Hospital Lane can be a very lonely and stressful place for parents and Caregivers to find themselves. As a patient support organisation, IDFNZ recognises the importance of preparing families for what lies ahead. Each journey is unique, but this book covers common challenges, to help new hospital parents by preparing them in advance, answering common questions and sharing positive tips from others who have walked a similar path.

Your hospital journey may be a single trip, or as for many of our members, it may become a regular destination. This book has been written to bring hope and offer coping skills to achieve the best experience for the whole family. We have also included a selection of IDFNZ member stories, to share the experiences of other patient families that have gone ahead of you.

We encourage you to dip into this book and use the wider range of support, information, and resources that IDFNZ has built up caring for the patient community over the last 35 years. The book is available free to members – request a copy from office@idfnz.org.nz.
