IDFNZ Research Grants 2026

Mon Dec. 1st 2025

IDFNZ is pleased to announce a new series of grants for research in the field of primary immunodeficiency. Grants of up to $10,000 each are available to encourage and support research projects that lack significant funding.

Applications are for annual contributions and are available to New Zealand Researchers working in the field of primary immunodeficiency and with projects that aim to benefit the PID community. This may include:

  • Early career scientists, researchers, and clinicians, although applications from established researchers may also be considered.
  • Emerging clinician researchers (such as advanced trainees).
  • Other health professionals (dietitians, nurses, pharmacists) working with the PID patient community.

Grants are awarded through a competitive research grant program and are awarded on merit. Criteria for rating grant applications include originality, scientific quality, project design, research methodology, research team qualifications and experience, project feasibility, significance of outcomes and demonstration of how this will benefit the PID patient community.

Grant application rounds will open from Dec 1st to February 1st each year.

The IDFNZ Board reviews these and appoints Board-appointed medical representatives.

If further information is required, the IDFNZ board may contact applicants.

Grant awardees will be announced by 1st April 2024, and details of the grants awarded will be published in the IDFNZ newsletter and website.

IDFNZ reserves the right to decline applications that do not align with the Foundation's key objectives, holding over grants to the next funding round.

Successful grant recipients are expected to complete a full accountability report by 31st November 2024. IDFNZ sponsorship must be noted in the project summary and any published results.

Completed form must be submitted by email to: info@idfnz.org.nz  with accompanying information, by February 1st, 2026.
