We are privileged to have Bishop John Paterson as our Foundation Patron. Bishop Paterson is highly regarded in many circles, and brings outstanding leadership, mentorship and wisdom to our Foundation. Below is a word from Bishop Paterson.
Although I have been Patron of the Foundation for some years, I have been relatively inactive, due to pressure of work. But I have recently retired as the Anglican Bishop of Auckland, so now have more time to devote to the cause.
I was born in Pukekohe, South Auckland. After secondary school at King's College I studied at Auckland University and St John's Theological College, and was ordained in 1969 in the Anglican Church.
I served in a number of appointments in Whangarei, Bay of Islands, Auckland and Rotorua, and particularly in the Anglican Maori Church, finishing with a fifteen year stint as Bishop of Auckland.
My wife and I are the proud parents of two daughters - a doctor and a physiotherapist, and the even prouder grandparents of six mokopuna.
Kia ora tatou!
